N202: Excavator 360

Description

The course is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to safely and efficiently operate an Excavator 360.

Who Should Attend?

This course is suitable for both experienced operators and novices.

Course Content

To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

Gaining a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry, and responsibilities as a plant operator.
Learning a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
Being able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
Being able to locate and identify steering, driving, and braking controls and explain their functions.
Identifying and maintaining PPE appropriate for use.
Conducting all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
Safely mounting and dismounting the machine.
Starting and stopping the engine and safely moving the machine off and stopping it safely.
Configuring the machine for travel and maneuvering it safely across varying terrain in open and confined areas.
Conducting all necessary safety checks at the work area.
Maneuvering the machine to the work area and correctly configuring it in readiness to carry out tasks.
Carrying out excavating tasks.
Loading material onto transporting vehicles or into containers.
Reinstating excavation, grading, and leveling ground.
Fitting and removing attachments.

Knowledge

A good understanding of spoken, reading, and writing English.

NPORS Card

Route dependent.

Entry Requirements

We will carry out a profile assessment to determine the duration of training required for those with limited or no experience.

Location

Training can be conducted onsite or at the Bridgend Training Facility.

Existing NPORS Card Holder – No (S)NVQ Held

For operators who do not currently hold the requisite (S)NVQ, a Trained Operator card will be issued, valid for two years from the date of application. During this period, operators will be required to register for and achieve the requisite (S)NVQ with the unit credits applicable to the categories of plant stated on their Trained Operator card.

Existing NPORS Card Holder – (S)NVQ Held

Operators who currently hold the requisite (S)NVQ with the unit credits applicable to the categories of plant stated on their NPORS card will be issued with a Competent Operator card valid for 5 years from the date of application. Operators in receipt of the Competent Operator card will also be issued with a CPD record/operator logbook. This will be an ongoing record of the operator’s continuous professional development and of their operating hours in the workplace.

NPORS (Traditional) Operator Card

For those who operate in industry sectors other than construction and therefore are not subject to the requirement to hold an operator card bearing the CSCS logo, NPORS has retained its traditional operator card.

Though the standards applied to this route and the methods of achievement are exactly the same as those applied to the NPORS / CSCS operator card route, the NPORS traditional card does not bear the CSCS logo. Non-construction industry sectors generally do not have the same requirements as the construction sector, i.e., trained operator card – VQ achievement – competent operator card.

End users have the option to select 3 or 5-year registrations for this card, depending on any sector-specific or in-company requirements.

N.B. For those operating in the construction sector, the NPORS / CSCS card route should be followed.
