PLUS Telescopic Handler/Forward Tipping Dumper/360 Excavator/Backhoe/Mini Digger

Description

The PLUS mobile plant training standards recognise the skills required to operate mobile plant and attachments, allowing the training and assessment to be specific to the job role. Schemes include 360 excavator training, dump truck training, backhoe, telescopic handler and mini digger training to name a few.

The course is designed to equip delegates with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to operate a  safely and efficiently.

Who Should Attend?

PLUS plant training is designed for people who work with mobile plant machinery in the utilities, waste and recycling industries.

This course is suitable for both experienced operators and novices.

Course Content

To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

 

  • Gaining a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry, and responsibilities as a plant operator.
  • Learning a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
  • Being able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
  • Being able to locate and identify steering, driving, and braking controls and explain their functions.
  • Identifying and maintaining PPE appropriate for use.
  • Conducting all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
  • Safely mounting and dismounting the machine.
  • Starting and stopping the engine and safely moving the machine off and stopping it safely.
  • Configuring the machine for travel and maneuvering it safely across varying terrain in open and confined areas.
  • Conducting all necessary safety checks at the work area.
  • Maneuvering the machine to the work area and correctly configuring it in readiness to carry out tasks.

Knowledge

A good understanding of spoken, reading, and writing English.

Qualifications Obtained

Registration is based on successful completion of a training programme and assessment. Training is delivered through a network of Energy & Utility Skills approved providers.

EUSR registration for PLUS is for five years from the date of assessment.

The training is relevant

  • The training and assessment is waste and recycling industry specific; created for plant machinery operators in the utilities sector.
  • Workers are trained to use the attachments on plant machinery that are applicable to their role.

Location

Training and assessment is held on your site.
