This one-day Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) course is designed to help construction workers understand the potential hazards they may face on site.

It explains what should be done if the worker believes that anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.

The course is an ideal foundation for those wishing to obtain an industry site card. It is the first step in obtaining the CSCS Green Labourer Card.

Who Should Attend?

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is aimed at individuals who have entered or are about to enter the construction and civil engineering industry as members of the workforce. This course helps them understand the potential hazards they may face while working on site.

This course highlights potential hazards when working on site and provides practical advice on keeping yourself and your colleagues safe.

It covers your individual and employer’s responsibilities.
It explains what you can do if you think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.

Knowledge

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course aims to ensure that individuals understand their responsibilities regarding:

Why they are carrying out their identified duties.
What is expected of them while on site.
How they contribute to the safety of the workplace.

Qualifications Obtained

Certification for this course is valid for five years. To remain certified, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date.

Entry Requirements

Examination and Certification

For a delegate to obtain certification for this course, they must pass the end-of-course HSA examination.
The examination is a multiple-choice question paper consisting of 25 questions.
Delegates must obtain 83% or more to pass the examination.
The examination lasts 30 minutes and must be completed within this time.
This is a closed-book exam.

This course is an ideal introduction for obtaining a basic understanding of health and safety duties and responsibilities, and for becoming aware of hazards and risks on site.

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is the first step towards a CSCS Labourers Card (Green Card).
A natural progression would be the Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course.

Existing site managers, agents, surveyors, and persons holding positions of managerial control should attend the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course.
