When does your New Roads & Street Works qualification expire?

 

If you are an operative or supervisor and your SWQR card is about to expire you must complete the Re-assessment Units to renew.

Refresh your knowledge in preparation of the question papers that follows.

Exam up to 8 Units

Delegates will then sit a question paper for each certificate. Duration is 30 minutes to complete each paper and 80% is the pass mark on each paper.

Who Should Attend?

The NRSW refresher course is designed to assess and re qualify experienced persons to prevent their NRSW cards expiring. Please note that this course is for candidates that hold all units on their street works card (for further details of the required units, please contact us directly).

Course Content

The NRSWA re-assessment includes:

 

For Operatives:

 

• Location and avoidance of underground apparatus.
• Signing, lighting and guarding.
• Excavation in the road/highway.
• Reinstatement of compaction and backfill materials.
• Reinstatement of sub-base and road base non-bituminous materials.
• Reinstatement of bituminous materials (cold-lay & hot-lay).
• Reinstatement of concrete slabs.
• Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways.

 

For Supervisors:

 

• Location and avoidance of underground apparatus.
• Monitoring Signing, lighting and guarding.
• Monitoring Excavation in the road/highway.
• Monitoring Reinstatement of compaction and backfill materials.
• Monitoring Reinstatement of sub-base and road base non-bituminous materials.
• Monitoring Reinstatement of bituminous materials (cold-lay & hot-lay).
• Monitoring Reinstatement of concrete slabs.
• Monitoring Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways.

Knowledge

By the end of the NRSWA course delegates will be able to:

 

• Summarise the requirements of the current NRSW Act.
• Select appropriate personal protective and safety equipment as required to carry out street works activities.
• Supervisors will be able to monitor duties performed by Operatives for each unit and/or qualification Standards in-line with current legislation, and ACOP where applicable.
• Provide a safe working environment for themselves and others.

Qualifications Obtained

Issue of the related NRSW card (valid 5 years) will be awarded to those persons who successfully complete the NRSW assessments.

Entry Requirements

Pre-Requisites: The minimum entry requirement is a good understanding of spoken and written English. Only those with experience should attend, this is an assessment or test.
